Wuhai city, which is a municipality directly under the local government of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, lies in the west of Inner Mongolia and is a new industrial city with natural resources. In the year of 1988 it was established as an experimental area of Inner Mongolia economic structural reform and an open city to foreigners, and enjoys the limits of authority of provincial management.

Wuhai City ,with abundant natural resources, serialized process of production to make it complete, and enjoying exceptional advantages ,is a piece of hot land yet to be explored. After 40 years’ development, especially after carrying the policy of reform and open, and backed by resource advantages ,Wuhai makes efforts to improve the investment environment ,to expand openness ,and to strengthen the comprehensive economic strength .Its GDP increases 40 times than in 1950s’,and it has set up as industrial economic system with five main support industries :coal ,chemical engineering ,building materials ,metallurgy and mechanic engineering, and it has a suburban agricultural system with production and deep-processing of vegetables and fruits.

Wuhai has rich and particular tourist resources and has extreme value of exploration, with its convenient transport and communications, perfect functions of basic facilities , flourishing markets and strong radiation strength. In July of 1996, it was established by the National Building Ministry as a pilot city of urban construction of national factory areas.
